Spokane Karuta Society's Going to Be on TV!

So I received an e-mail this morning from a Japanese T.V. company called T.V. Asahi and they asked us (Spokane Karuta Society) if we would like to be a part of a show they're making called I Love Japan. It features different people from around the world who are interested in Japanese culture. Pretty cool huh?

Second Practice Complete!

We had another fun time at practice. Played an intense yet fun match. Currently working on a flyer design to help promote our club. I'll post it to show you all what it looks like.
Here's some pics from tonight's practice:

On a side note before we went to practice, a librarian asked the other co-founder of our society and I  if we would be interested in teaching the kids from the local anime club about karuta, and how to play it. Pretty exciting if I say so myself! :D Potential recruiting skills activate!

Pics from Our First Practice!

Our first practice was held Tuesday and it was a lot of fun! Here's some pics of myself setting up for a match against the other co-founder of the Spokane Karuta Society. :D

Our next practice is tonight. Same time and place. We'll be meeting in the small meeting room downstairs. Ask one of the librarians if you don't know where to find it. :D

Public Club Practice In the Future

We should be getting our first authentic karuta deck here soon. Once we get the deck we'll post scheduled times for our club to practice. Of course since our practices are public, everyone should stop on by. Even if it's just to see what karuta is like or if you're interested in joining! Will give more detailed info on the practices in a couple days. :D

P.S.-We're always recruiting. Email me at losewine1@yahoo.com if interested!

Just updated the "Useful References" page with a new link to a PDF. This link covers the most intricate step step instructions on how to play a match of competitive karuta. It also covers other aspects of karuta such as player etiquette.

Fundraiser for the Spokane Karuta Society!

Everyone please go check out this page. We’re trying to earn enough money to compete at the first ever national tournament in North America. It would be great if you could support us. Even a dollar would be greatly appreciated!
